AiM makes lap timers, data loggers, and dash displays across a wide range, and the right one depends on your discipline, your vehicle, and how deep you want to go into data analysis. Karting

Karting is AiM's deepest range, built around the MyChron family:

• MyChron 6 1T — single temperature input, the standard entry point for most karters.
• MyChron 6 2T — dual temperature input for karts running two temperature sensors (e.g. water and exhaust).
• MyChron5 S — the previous-generation option, still supported and stocked.
• MyChron Expansion — adds extra channels beyond the base unit's inputs for more advanced setups.

Circuit Racing (Cars)

For circuit cars, the choice generally comes down to how much data you want beyond lap times:

• Solo 2 — GPS lap and split timing only, the simplest install for track day and club circuit cars.
• Solo 2 DL — adds ECU or sensor data logging alongside GPS timing.
• MXS 1.3 and MXm — dash display and full data logger for cars wanting a driver dash plus deeper channel logging.
• SmartyCam 4 — motorsport camera with data overlay, for reviewing driving lines alongside the numbers.

Circuit Racing (Motorcycles)

AiM's EVO4 range is built for track bikes, wired to specific model wiring looms:

• Model-specific EVO4 cables for Yamaha R1, Yamaha R6, Suzuki GSX-R, Kawasaki ZX-10R, Ducati 848/1098/1198, and BMW, connecting an EVO4 logger directly to the bike's factory harness.
• MXK10 — dash logger built for the Kawasaki ZX-10.

Rally

Rally cars typically want a full data and dash solution that can handle rough conditions and multiple ECU/sensor inputs:

• MXG 1.3 — 7-inch dash logger with GPS and WiFi, suited to cars wanting a comprehensive driver display plus full logging.
• PDM08 — power distribution module for rally and race cars consolidating switched circuits and diagnostics.
• Solo 2 DL — a lighter-weight option for stage or hillclimb timing without a full dash logger install.

Speedway & Oval

AiM's dash loggers and lap timers (Solo 2, Solo 2 DL, MXS, MXm) are also used on speedway and oval cars for lap timing and engine/vehicle data, though AiM's range is not built with speedway-specific features. If you're setting up a speedway car, talk to us about which core dash logger or lap timer suits your class and budget, since the right choice depends more on your car's wiring and your data goals than a speedway-specific model.
