Liquid driver cooling, not air through the shirt

Chillout refrigerated liquid-cooling systems circulate cooled fluid through tubing in a compatible cooling garment worn beneath the race suit. The garment transfers heat from the driver into the circulating fluid, which returns to the cooling unit. This is a different circuit from a helmet-air system: liquid-cooling shirts do not circulate chilled air.

For circuit and endurance racing, and suitable speedway or off-road installations, match the system to cockpit conditions, available electrical power, mounting space and stint requirements. Liquid cooling can be used alongside helmet airflow and hydration as part of the complete driver setup.

Build a compatible Chillout setup

  • Cooling unit and installation: check the exact model's power requirements, mounting arrangement, ventilation and supplied components. Do not assume every package includes a cooling shirt, controller or the same fittings.
  • Cooling garment: select the right size and connector arrangement. A pumped liquid-cooling shirt is different from passive PCM temperature-regulating underwear. Browse Chillout motorsport underwear for the separate base-layer range.
  • Hoses and connectors: match the garment and cooler connections, hose routing and any breakaway or rapid-release components. Similar-looking fittings are not proof of compatibility.
  • Preparation and maintenance: follow the exact unit's instructions for coolant, filling, priming, cleaning and storage. Check operation before the driver straps in, and keep hoses clear of controls, harness adjustment and the exit path.

Practical motorsport experience

Chillout products in this range are personally selected and recommended by Aaron Harris, Barcelona 24 Hour class winner and Bathurst competitor, who has used driver cooling in endurance racing environments. His racing and professional race-engineering experience helps customers plan the equipment around the car, driver and driver-change requirements.

Cooling is part of driver heat-safety planning, not a guarantee against heat illness or fatigue. Combine equipment checks with hydration, preparation and a response plan if the driver becomes unwell. For protective garments, check the exact item's physical certification label and the current rules of your category and event; a rating on one garment does not cover the whole range.
