Aerial Mounts & Antenna Mounts Explained
An aerial mount (also called an antenna mount) is the bracket or fitting that secures your UHF CB or two-way radio antenna to your vehicle. The correct aerial mount ensures optimal signal strength, prevents antenna vibration damage, and keeps the antenna positioned for maximum range. Vehicle-specific aerial mounts from Rugged Radios are engineered for each platform:
- UTV / SxS aerial mounts — cage-rail or roof-rail designs for Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick, Yamaha YXZ, Honda Talon, Kawasaki KRX & Segway Powersports; rated for high-vibration offroad use

Do the kits include aerial mounts and antenna mounts?
Yes. Every vehicle-specific kit includes a purpose-built aerial mount (antenna mount) designed for that platform. For example, Polaris RZR kits include a cage-mount aerial bracket; Toyota HiLux and LandCruiser kits include bull bar or A-pillar aerial mounts; Ford Ranger kits include a compatible antenna mount for the Ranger's body profile. Individual aerial mount options are also available within each vehicle collection if you need a replacement or additional mount.
What is the difference between an aerial mount and an antenna mount?
They are the same thing. In Australia and New Zealand, the term aerial mount is commonly used; in North America, antenna mount is more common. Rugged Radios products use both terms interchangeably. All mounts supplied by Harris Race Radios are compatible with standard UHF CB aerials and antennas.
Are these kits UHF CB legal in Australia and New Zealand?
Yes. All Rugged Radios systems supplied by Harris Race Radios are configured for 80-channel UHF CB compliance in Australia (ACMA) and New Zealand (RSM). Rex Harris is an Approved Radio Certifier for both countries.
Do I need an intercom as well as a radio?
For multi-passenger vehicles, an intercom allows driver and passenger communication independently of the radio. Most UTV kits include both. For 4WD touring, a radio alone is often sufficient — contact us for advice.
