Chillout Pro Sport Motorsport Underwear
Flame-resistant base layers with passive temperature-regulating technology, ergonomic construction and lightweight comfort for motorsport drivers.
Harris Race Radios™ is a New Zealand dealer for Chillout, helping drivers in New Zealand and Australia choose suitable racewear and driver-cooling equipment.
Precision-made for professionals
The Chillout Motorsports Pro Sport Collection features thermo-regulating microcapsules that respond to temperature changes.
These phase-change materials (PCMs) absorb heat as they change from solid to liquid, then release stored heat as they cool and return to a solid state. This passive cycle helps moderate temperature fluctuations within the garment, without pumps, tubing or an external cooling unit.
PCM has a finite heat-storage capacity and needs to cool to reset. It is not continuous refrigeration or a guarantee of reduced core body temperature.
Manufacturer illustration. Chillout advertises a temperature-reduction benefit of up to 8°F, approximately 4.4°C. Results depend on conditions and measurement method; this is not a guaranteed reduction in a driver’s core body temperature.
Comfort and support beneath your racewear
Pro Sport garments combine ergonomic construction and ultra-flat seams to follow the body’s contours and help minimise rubbing beneath your race suit.
Breathable, moisture-wicking materials support airflow and moisture management during extended wear. Chillout also states that its fabric is tested for harmful substances.
Choose a comfortable, close fit that allows movement. Assess your balaclava together with your helmet to maintain the correct fit.
Feature panels contain Chillout’s manufacturer claims for the featured garment. Ratings and material specifications vary across the range; check the individual product and supplied garment label.
Choose your Chillout base layers

Passive regulation or active driver cooling?
Pro Sport PCM underwear manages temperature passively. Pro Touring cooling shirts instead circulate cooled liquid through tubing, carrying heat away from the driver to a compatible cooling unit. These shirts require an operating system, suitable hoses and the correct connectors.
Compare the FIA/SFI Pro Touring cooling shirt and SFI Pro Touring Sport shirt, or explore Chillout Driver Cooling Systems for a complete installation.
Practical motorsport advice
Choose each garment’s rating to match your current discipline, category and event rules. Not every item carries both FIA and SFI ratings. Check the physical labels and confirm event acceptance where necessary. Flame-resistant does not mean fireproof.
As a New Zealand dealer for Chillout, Harris Race Radios™ can help match your base layers, race suit, cooling installation, helmet fit and communications. Aaron Harris brings practical racing and race-engineering experience, including Bathurst competition and Porsche Carrera Cup race engineering.

Frequently asked questions
How does Chillout Pro Sport temperature regulation work?
Pro Sport fabric contains phase-change microcapsules that absorb heat as they change from solid to liquid and release stored heat as they cool and solidify. This passive process helps moderate temperature fluctuations. It does not provide continuous refrigeration or guarantee a reduction in core body temperature.
Do I need a cooling unit for Pro Sport underwear?
No. Pro Sport PCM underwear works without an external cooling unit. Pro Touring liquid-cooled shirts are different: they require a compatible operating cooling system, suitable hoses and the correct connectors.
What is included in the Chillout underwear package?
The current package listing includes a top, pants, socks and balaclava. Check the package page for the supplied items, individual garment ratings and available sizes before ordering.
Is every garment both FIA and SFI rated?
No. Ratings vary between garments. The single-layer balaclava is listed to SFI 3.3, while the socks are listed to FIA 8856-2018. Check each product’s specifications and the physical label on the supplied garment against your current category and event requirements.
Should I choose a single-layer or dual-layer balaclava?
Start with your category’s required rating, then compare coverage, construction and helmet fit. The single-layer version is listed as SFI-only; the dual-layer listing specifies FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3. Layer count alone does not determine eligibility.
How do I choose the correct size?
Use the guide for the exact garment and compare your measurements. Socks have a separate footwear-size guide. Check movement beneath your suit, socks inside your boots and balaclava fit with your helmet. Contact Harris Race Radios™ if you are between sizes.
