The Stilo ST6 F 8860 Carbon Helmet is the ultimate GT and international sportscar racing helmet — certified to FIA 8860-2018, the highest FIA homologation standard in existence. FIA 8860-2018 stands above FIA 8859-2024 and above Snell — it is the standard mandated for Formula 1, WEC Hypercar, and the most demanding international GT categories. Launched for 2025 following two hugely successful generations of Stilo full-face racing helmet, the ST6 8860 delivers noticeable improvements in comfort, weight, visibility, and safety, built on the experience of the previous model in top-flight motorsport including WEC and Formula One.
Not sure which Stilo 8860 helmet is right for you? The ST6 F 8860 Carbon (this helmet) includes part electronics — Nexus connection, adjustable mic, and earpiece connector — making it ideal for GT and endurance racing with driver changes. The ST6 F Zero Carbon is also FIA 8860-2018 but uses Stilo's PURO Zero carbon shell with integrated radio and dynamic mic, suited to circuit and GT use where speaker cups or earpiece are preferred. The ST6 FN 8860 ABP Carbon is the naked shell for custom comms fitment. For FIA 8859-2024 / SA2025, see the ST6 F Carbon.
Technical Specifications
Shell — Ultra-Lightweight Carbon Fibre
The ST6 F 8860 Carbon uses an ultra-strong carbon fibre shell — three shell sizes cover the full size range (XS through XXXL), including a new medium shell designed to fit the majority of drivers in the 59–61cm range, ensuring optimised shell geometry for each head size.
Why it matters: In a high-G cornering environment, a heavier helmet amplifies the load on the neck and cervical spine. The ST6 F 8860's ultra-lightweight carbon construction minimises neck strain and fatigue over long GT and endurance stints — a measurable performance and safety benefit at the highest levels of international sportscar racing.
Weight
From 1,410 g (small shell, shell size dependent). Up to 10% lighter than the previous ST5 F 8860 model. Larger shell sizes will be marginally heavier.
Why it matters: At 1,410 g, the ST6 F 8860 Carbon is among the lightest FIA 8860-2018 approved helmets with integrated electronics available. Less neck strain means better focus and reduced fatigue over long GT and endurance stints.
Certification — FIA 8860-2018: The Highest Standard
FIA 8860-2018 is the highest FIA homologation standard for circuit racing helmets — a separate and more demanding specification than FIA 8859-2024 or Snell SA2025. It is not dual-certified with Snell; it operates at a level above it. FIA 8860-2018 is mandatory for Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, WEC Hypercar class, and many top-level GT and sportscar series globally.
The visor locking system has been adapted to meet and exceed the latest (2025) update to the FIA 8860-2018 specifications regarding visor retention in full-face helmets.
Why it matters: If your series requires FIA 8860-2018, no other standard — including FIA 8859-2024 or Snell SA2025 — is an acceptable substitute. This is a specialist helmet for the top tier of international motorsport.
Shell Construction
Three shell sizes — including a new medium shell for the 59–61cm range — for a more precise fit across the full size range. Shell sizing structure evolved from the previous model based on feedback from leading World Endurance drivers.
Part Electronics Built In
The ST6 F 8860 is supplied with part electronics built into the shell — a female Stilo Nexus connection suitable for use with MRTC/Autotel race radio, a Stilo adjustable microphone, and a Stilo earpiece connector neatly fitted to the shell. This design means the ST6 is prepared for the majority of comms systems used in professional racing, and is excellent for connecting quickly during driver changes.
Why it matters: In GT and endurance racing, driver changes happen under time pressure. The Nexus connection and pre-fitted earpiece connector allow rapid, reliable comms connection without fumbling with external wiring in the cockpit.
Visor — ABP Only
ST6 sunshade visor to help shield your eyes from bright sunlight. Increased downward field of view through a lower visor aperture — drivers benefit from improved visibility of the dashboard and cockpit controls. Important: only FIA 8860-2018 approved ABP visors are compatible with this helmet. Standard ST6 visors must not be used. See the Stilo 8860 ABP Visor for compatible options.
Ventilation & Padding
Advanced air channels in the chin bar and top of the shell provide better breathability, reducing sweat, moisture, and heat — based on F1 and WEC experience. New comfort padding designed for a better fit and improved stability, with completely new linings and improved interlocking around the cheek and chin pad area for better usability. New easy-to-use padding channels for better installation of the electronics, air, and water systems.
Cable & Systems Routing
Redesigned routing within the padding for the optional quick-release integrated drinks kit, radio cable routing, and cold air system. A full new range of accessories exclusive to the ST6, including tinted visors, screw kits, and advanced aerodynamics, is available as extra options. The ST6 8860 is also customisable in-store for a bespoke helmet fit at Harris Race Radios.
Sizes Available
XS (54), S (55), M (57), M (58), L (59), XL (61), XXL (63), XXXL (64). If you are between sizes or unsure, contact Aaron Harris — MSNZ Licence Examiner for helmets, he fits helmets regularly and can advise on correct sizing for your head shape.

Is the ST6 F 8860 Carbon legal for MSNZ and Motorsport Australia events?
Yes — FIA 8860-2018 certified, accepted by both MSNZ and Motorsport Australia for applicable categories including GT, sportscar, and single-seater events. Always verify current series regulations with your organiser.
What visors are compatible with the ST6 F 8860 Carbon?

What is the difference between the ST6 F 8860 Carbon and the ST6 F Zero Carbon?
Both are FIA 8860-2018 certified. The ST6 F 8860 Carbon uses a standard carbon shell with part electronics (Nexus connection, mic, earpiece connector) — ideal for GT and endurance racing with driver changes. The ST6 F Zero Carbon uses Stilo's PURO Zero carbon shell with integrated radio and dynamic mic, starting from 1,240g, suited to circuit and GT use where speaker cups or earpiece are preferred.
What is the difference between FIA 8860-2018 and FIA 8859-2024?
FIA 8860-2018 is a separate, higher standard — it is not dual-certified with Snell SA2025 and operates above it. FIA 8860-2018 is mandatory for Formula 1, F2, F3, WEC Hypercar, and many top-level GT series. FIA 8859-2024 is the current standard for the majority of circuit and rally events. If your series requires 8860, no other standard is an acceptable substitute.
What electronics are built into the ST6 F 8860 Carbon?

Is this helmet eligible for WEC Hypercar class?
Yes — FIA 8860-2018 homologation covers all international sportscar categories including the Hypercar class.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the widest circumference of your head above the ears in centimetres. When in doubt, size down — racing helmets should fit firmly with no movement. Contact Aaron Harris — MSNZ Licence Examiner for helmets — for sizing advice based on your head shape.
Do you hold stock in NZ and ship to Australia?
Yes — NZ stock held locally for fast dispatch. Australian orders ship with tracked courier.
