The Stilo ST6 FN Carbon ABP Helmet is the benchmark open wheel racing helmet for club and national-level formula competitors. Certified to FIA 8859-2024 ABP (Advanced Ballistics Protection) — the standard mandated or strongly recommended for lower-level open wheel and formula racing — it delivers an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre shell with the extended forehead ABP zone that single-seater drivers need, at a price that makes professional-grade protection genuinely accessible.

Important: FIA 8859-2024 ABP is not permitted in FIA Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Toyota Racing Series (TRS), or Formula Regional Oceania Championship (FROC). Those categories mandate FIA 8860-2018. This helmet is the correct and recommended choice for Formula Ford, Formula 4, club formula, and other lower-level open wheel categories. Always verify your specific event regulations.

Why ABP Matters for Open Wheel Racing

Advanced Ballistics Protection (ABP) adds a reinforced extended zone across the forehead area of the helmet shell. In open wheel and formula racing — where the driver's head is fully exposed and debris, stones, and tyre rubber are a constant hazard — ABP provides critical additional impact and penetration resistance beyond the standard FIA 8859-2024 certification. For lower-level open wheel categories, ABP is the recommended or mandatory specification.

Key Benefits

  • FIA 8859-2024 ABP certified — mandated or recommended for Formula Ford, Formula 4, club formula, and lower-level open wheel categories
  • Ultra-lightweight carbon fibre shell — PURO technology, no clear coat, maximum strength at minimum weight
  • Advanced Ballistics Protection (ABP) — extended forehead zone for debris and impact resistance critical in open cockpit racing
  • No electronics or side ports — clean, minimal shell; intercom and drink tube channels built in for optional retrofit
  • Factory-fitted FHR / HANS posts — included as standard
  • Up to 10% lighter than the ST5 FN ABP Carbon — less neck fatigue across long race weekends
  • Professional quality at an accessible price — carbon ABP protection without the FIA 8860 price premium

That's not marketing. That's first-hand race engineering experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this helmet permitted in TRS, FROC, F1, F2, or F3?
No. TRS, FROC, Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 mandate FIA 8860-2018 certification. This helmet is certified to FIA 8859-2024 ABP, which is not accepted in those categories. For TRS and FROC, see the ST6 FN 8860 Carbon.
What categories is this helmet correct for?
FIA 8859-2024 ABP is the mandated or recommended standard for Formula Ford, Formula 4, club formula, and most lower-level open wheel categories in NZ and AU. Always verify your specific event and series regulations.
Why do open wheel drivers need ABP?
In open wheel and formula racing, the driver's head is fully exposed to debris, stones, and tyre rubber at high speed. Advanced Ballistics Protection (ABP) adds a reinforced extended forehead zone that provides additional impact and penetration resistance beyond standard FIA 8859-2024 certification.
Does this helmet have built-in electronics or intercom?
No. The ST6 FN Carbon ABP has no integrated electronics or side ports. Internal channels allow for optional intercom and drink tube retrofit. See our open wheel helmet kit for compatible electronics.
Does this helmet include HANS posts?
Yes — factory-fitted FHR / HANS posts are included as standard.
