The Stilo ST6 FN ABP Composite Helmet is the composite-shell entry point for open wheel and formula racing competitors who need FIA 8859-2024 ABP (Advanced Ballistics Protection) certification — the standard mandated or recommended for Formula Ford, Formula 4, and lower-level open wheel categories in NZ and AU. It delivers the same ABP forehead protection as the carbon version at a more accessible price point, thanks to its composite shell construction.
Important: FIA 8859-2024 ABP is not permitted in FIA Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Toyota Racing Series (TRS), or Formula Regional Oceania Championship (FROC). Those categories mandate FIA 8860-2018. This helmet is the correct and recommended choice for Formula Ford, Formula 4, club formula, and other lower-level open wheel categories. Always verify your specific event regulations.
Why ABP Matters for Open Wheel Racing
Advanced Ballistics Protection (ABP) adds a reinforced extended zone across the forehead area of the helmet shell. In open wheel and formula racing — where the driver's head is fully exposed and debris, stones, and tyre rubber are a constant hazard — ABP provides critical additional impact and penetration resistance beyond the standard FIA 8859-2024 certification. For lower-level open wheel categories, ABP is the recommended or mandatory specification.
Key Benefits
- FIA 8859-2024 ABP certified — mandated or recommended for Formula Ford, Formula 4, club formula, and lower-level open wheel categories
- Composite shell with ABP — the same Advanced Ballistics Protection as the carbon version at a more accessible price
- No electronics or side ports — clean, minimal shell; intercom and drink tube channels built in for optional retrofit
- Factory-fitted FHR / HANS posts — included as standard
- Three shell sizes — precise fit across XS to XXXL
- Best-value ABP open wheel helmet in the ST6 FN range — ABP protection without the carbon price premium
Who Is This Helmet For?
- Formula Ford, Formula 4, and club formula competitors
- Lower-level open wheel and single-seater drivers where FIA 8859-2024 ABP is mandated or recommended

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this helmet permitted in TRS, FROC, F1, F2, or F3?
- No. TRS, FROC, Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 mandate FIA 8860-2018 certification. This helmet is certified to FIA 8859-2024 ABP, which is not accepted in those categories. For TRS and FROC, see the ST6 FN 8860 Carbon.
- What is the difference between the composite and carbon ABP versions?
- Both helmets carry the same FIA 8859-2024 ABP certification and Advanced Ballistics Protection. The composite shell is heavier than carbon but comes at a lower price point. If weight saving is a priority, see the ST6 FN Carbon ABP.
- What categories is this helmet correct for?
- FIA 8859-2024 ABP is the mandated or recommended standard for Formula Ford, Formula 4, club formula, and most lower-level open wheel categories in NZ and AU. Always verify your specific event and series regulations.
- Does this helmet have built-in electronics or intercom?
- No. The ST6 FN ABP Composite has no integrated electronics or side ports. Internal channels allow for optional intercom and drink tube retrofit. Contact Harris Race Radios for compatible electronics options.
