The Pyrotect MIDAIR combines a patented mid-mounted air inlet, composite shell and Rugged Radios Alpha Audio helmet wiring. It is an option for offroad, speedway, rally and endurance competitors using helmet air systems where the exact helmet meets the class requirements. This listing describes SA2020 stock; a newer supplier version does not change the physical label on an existing helmet.

Why consider a mid-mounted air inlet?

In a tight cockpit, hose position and microphone placement matter. The mid-mounted inlet offers another way to route the air supply and direct air across the shield. A well-matched system can help manage heat and fogging while keeping direct airflow away from the microphone. Check the arrangement with the driver seated and harness secured, including head movement and seat, restraint and roll-cage clearance.

This is a practical layout choice, not a claim that every other inlet design performs worse. Filtration, pumper output, hose routing and conditions all affect the result. The helmet is not dust-proof, and forced air does not guarantee a fog-free shield.

Construction and supplied equipment

Match Racing Optics or Ultra Shield tear-offs to the exact shield. Replacement pads and shields must be checked for model and shell fit rather than assumed to interchange across the Pyrotect range.

Match the communications and air supply

The fitted Alpha Audio kit includes a 3.5mm earbud connection. Check the helmet lead, microphone, speakers or earpieces and connecting cable against the intended intercom or radio. Correct microphone position and secure cables help driver–co-driver coordination without repeated instructions in a noisy car.

The MAC3.2 is a pumper option to discuss for this setup. Select the correct pumper, filter, hose and connection rather than assuming every air system fits. The helmet listing is not a complete vehicle radio, intercom or air-pumper system.

Size and fit

Use the chart as a starting point and confirm the exact model's chart and head shape. Measure above the eyebrows and ears; assess crown contact, cheek support, retention and fit with your usual balaclava and audio. Do not automatically size up to solve pressure points. NZ and Australian racing requirements

Check the SA2020 physical label, condition, helmet style and FHR setup against the current rules for the discipline, class and event. SA2025 is the latest Snell motorsport standard, but it must not be substituted for this listing's SA2020 stock identity without checking the actual helmet. See our helmet standards guide.
