PCI TRAX Plus: true stereo, Bluetooth convenience and optional DSP noise reduction

Good intercom audio makes a real difference in a noisy off-road vehicle. The PCI TRAX Plus combines true stereo sound, Bluetooth music and phone calls, digitally controlled VOX and dual audio amplifiers in an intercom designed for UTVs, sand cars and prerunners. Choose the Bluetooth and DSP version when reducing background noise in crew conversation is a priority.

For open vehicles, V8-powered cars and loud exhaust systems, our recommendation is to give the DSP-equipped version serious consideration. It brings the convenience of Bluetooth together with dedicated speech-noise processing, rather than asking you to choose between everyday enjoyment and practical crew communication.

Why DSP is worth choosing for a noisy vehicle

DSP means Digital Signal Processing. On the DSP-equipped TRAX Plus, it is designed to reduce unwanted background noise in the intercom audio so crew voices are easier to distinguish. In a loud cockpit, the benefit is more than a nicer sound: driver and co-driver need to understand each other's instructions, navigation calls and warnings.

PCI specifically recommends DSP for vehicles without a windscreen, V8 cars, loud exhaust systems and headset use. A front-panel control lets you switch DSP on when you need it and off when you do not. It is a useful feature for demanding off-road environments, not a substitute for correctly matched microphones, helmet audio and a sound installation. Noise reduction is not hearing protection and should not be read as a promise of silence in every vehicle.

Choose “Bluetooth and DSP” for this feature. Parts 3519 and 3521 include DSP; Bluetooth-only parts 3518 and 3520 do not.

Bluetooth music and calls, without a phone-to-intercom cable

Pair a compatible phone or Bluetooth music device to enjoy wireless music and phone-call connectivity through the intercom. Dedicated Bluetooth volume adjustment and front-panel play/pause and call-answer controls put these functions on the intercom, rather than requiring a wired connection from your phone.

That makes TRAX Plus a particularly appealing choice for recreational off-road trips as well as crew communication: talk with your passengers and enjoy stereo music through compatible audio equipment. Bluetooth is included in every configuration listed here. It connects the phone or music device; it does not make the helmet/headset cables wireless or replace a two-way radio. Use phone and music functions only when safe and appropriate for the activity.

True stereo, not simply the same sound in both ears

Separate left and right audio channels deliver stereo sound when used with compatible TRAX stereo headsets or helmet wiring. Dual audio amplifiers, digitally controlled VOX and increased RF filtering are further reasons to consider this intercom as a complete audio-system choice, not just another box on the dashboard.

This listing is for the intercom unit, not a complete helmet or headset system. Select the required configuration and match the audio equipment before ordering.

Choose Bluetooth or Bluetooth and DSP, then crew capacity

  • Bluetooth, 4 Seat: PCI part 3518.
  • Bluetooth, fifth-person capable: PCI part 3520.
  • Bluetooth and DSP, 4 Seat: PCI part 3519.
  • Bluetooth and DSP, fifth-person capable: PCI part 3521.

The fifth-person option enables expansion to five occupants; the necessary cables are extra. Choose for your intended crew size as well as the DSP requirement.

Included and required separately

Includes the TRAX Plus stereo intercom, intercom power cable and mounting hardware. Headset/helmet cables and the music cable are not included. Helmets, headsets and any two-way radio installation must be selected separately.

Important TRAX Plus compatibility

PCI specifies that 4 Link Pro cables do not work with TRAX Plus. Existing four-conductor mono headsets and helmet kits do not connect directly to the five-conductor TRAX stereo cables. A suitable adapter may allow a mono connection, but it does not turn mono equipment into stereo. Use compatible TRAX stereo headsets or helmet wiring for the full stereo experience.

Do not assume compatibility from the plug shape alone. Send us the intercom, headset/helmet kit and radio model details before selecting intercom cables or adapters.

Installation and support in NZ and Australia

PCI lists a 2.6A current draw and recommends a 5A fuse. Plan mounting position, power, cable routing and crew access before installation. Clear driver–co-driver conversation helps crews coordinate and navigate; a separate compatible two-way radio is needed for communication beyond the vehicle.

Harris Race Radios™ provides engineering, installation and repair support, helping match the intercom to the vehicle, crew and helmet audio. Frequently asked questions

Why choose the DSP-equipped TRAX Plus?

DSP is designed to reduce background noise in the intercom audio, helping crew speech stand out in noisy vehicles. PCI recommends considering it for open vehicles, V8 cars, loud exhaust systems and headset use. It can be switched on or off from the front panel.

Is Bluetooth included in every version here?

Yes. All four listed configurations include Bluetooth for compatible music devices and phone calls, with Bluetooth volume and front-panel playback or call-answer controls.

Is DSP included in every configuration?

No. Choose Bluetooth and DSP, part 3519 or 3521, if you require DSP. Bluetooth-only parts 3518 and 3520 do not include it.

Are headset and helmet cables included?

No. The intercom comes with its power cable and mounting hardware. Headset/helmet cables and the music cable are extra.

Does an adapter make my mono headset stereo?

No. A compatible adapter may provide a connection, but a mono headset or helmet kit remains mono.

Will PCI 4 Link Pro cables work?

No. PCI specifies that 4 Link Pro cables do not work with TRAX Plus.
