Intercom System Setup Overview

An intercom connects occupants inside the vehicle. A separate compatible two-way radio adds external communication with other vehicles or the pit crew. Clear driver–co-driver instructions support navigation, coordination and timely warnings.

Choose the system around your application

For two-way-radio integration, Harris Race Radios™ recommends Rugged Radios or PCI as the starting point, based on our installation and race-support experience. Both are important options for off-road, marine and offshore installations. For rally, we would generally recommend ZeroNoise over Stilo, particularly with non-Stilo helmets. ZeroNoise is also a very good option for jetsprints and off-road; Stilo remains relevant for rally, offshore, jetsprints and marine, particularly with an existing Stilo helmet system.

For marine use, confirm environmental specifications, protected mounting, saltwater exposure, connector protection and safe exit requirements for the exact equipment. We supply entry-level through professional systems matched to your application and budget.

DSP, Bluetooth and stereo

Digital Signal Processing reduces unwanted background noise in speech audio, helping driver and co-driver hear instructions more clearly in loud vehicles. The Rugged RRP6100 Pro Race Intercom DSP configuration is supplied fitted and set up. Select that configuration for the speech-processing feature.

The PCI TRAX Plus Stereo Intercom includes Bluetooth music and calls in all four listed configurations; choose Bluetooth and DSP for optional speech-noise processing. True stereo needs compatible TRAX audio equipment. Supported four-conductor mono equipment requires a suitable adapter and remains mono; PCI 4 Link Pro cables are incompatible.

DSP improves speech clarity, Bluetooth connects a compatible phone or audio device, and stereo supplies separate left/right audio channels. These are different features. Correct microphone position and matched audio equipment help realise their benefits.
