Why the OS20 RACE? The Offset Air Advantage
The defining feature of the OS20 RACE is its off-centred, left-positioned air inlet angled 20 degrees. This solves two problems that plague standard top-air helmets in tight cockpits:
- Added overhead clearance — the offset inlet clears roll cages, roof bars, and low cockpit rooflines that a centred inlet would foul
- Eliminates mic interference — the unique air channel placement prevents fresh air from "opening" the microphone and causing communication noise — a common problem with standard air systems
- Three individual air channels — route fresh air directly onto the visor to reduce fogging and keep contaminants out of the visual field
Impact OS20 RACE Key Features
- Snell SA2025 certified — current homologation accepted by MSNZ and Motorsport Australia
- Carbon fibre construction — lightweight shell reduces neck fatigue in long-stint and endurance events
- Offset 20° air intake — left-positioned for maximum overhead clearance in tight cockpits
- Three individual air channels — direct airflow onto visor; reduces fogging and contamination
- Wide eye port — exceptional peripheral vision range
- Wicker bill design — aerodynamic downforce prevents helmet lift at high speeds
- Fire-retardant Kevlar® chinstrap — locking dual D-ring design
- Built-in chin deflector — Nomex® covered eye port gasket eliminates dust and contaminants
- Removable cheek pads — optional pads available in multiple thicknesses for a bespoke fit
- Intelligent Gray Matter inner liner — soft-knit fire-retardant Nomex® fabrics throughout
- Wired with Rugged Radios helmet kit — ready to connect to your intercom system out of the box

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Impact OS20 RACE legal for MSNZ and Motorsport Australia events?
The OS20 RACE is Snell SA2025 certified. Snell SA2025 is accepted by both Motorsport New Zealand (MSNZ) and Motorsport Australia for applicable categories. Always verify the specific homologation standard required for your series with your series organiser or controlling body before purchasing.
What is the offset air intake and why does it matter?
The OS20 RACE features a left-positioned air inlet angled 20 degrees off-centre. This provides added overhead clearance in tight cockpits where a standard centred inlet would foul roll cage bars or roof structures. The offset placement also eliminates the fresh air system from interfering with the microphone — a common problem with standard top-air helmets.
What intercom system does the OS20 RACE come wired for?
The OS20 RACE is wired with a Rugged Radios helmet kit. Rex Harris can advise on integration with your specific intercom and radio system. Contact us →
Can I use the OS20 RACE with a Harris Race Radio system?
Yes. Rex Harris — ACMA/RSM certified radio engineer — configures the Rugged Radios wired kit for integration with Harris Race Radios systems. Contact us before purchase to confirm cable and connector compatibility with your specific radio.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the widest circumference of your head above the ears in centimetres and match to the sizing chart above. When in doubt, size down — racing helmets should fit firmly. We offer bespoke fitting advice at Harris Race Radios.
