What Are HANS Helmet Posts?
HANS helmet posts, FHR anchor posts and helmet anchor posts are the threaded attachment points fitted to a compatible racing helmet. The tethers from the HANS or FHR device connect to these posts, allowing the helmet and head-and-neck restraint to work together as part of the driver's safety system.
They are not a universal fitting. The helmet must have the correct factory-installed M6 receptacles, and the post, helmet and FHR device must be a compatible combination. A helmet standard by itself does not confirm the thread size or post fitment.
Why Using the Correct FHR Posts Matters
FHR anchor posts are a critical safety component. Incorrect thread sizes, damaged anchors, counterfeit hardware or poorly installed posts may prevent the FHR system from functioning as intended. Use genuine approved hardware that matches the helmet manufacturer's specifications, and do not drill, retap or modify a helmet shell to make a post fit.
If a post is lost, damaged, corroded, bent or shows damaged threads, replace it before the next event and have the complete helmet and FHR setup checked if required. If the helmet has been involved in a significant impact, follow the helmet and FHR manufacturers' inspection or replacement guidance rather than assuming the posts are reusable.

Installation and Inspection Notes
- Install only into the helmet manufacturer's factory M6 threaded receptacles.
- Follow the helmet manufacturer's fitting instructions and approved torque specification. Do not guess a torque value.
- Make sure the post threads cleanly and seats correctly. Stop if the threads bind, cross-thread or feel damaged.
- Do not use thread size alone to confirm fitment, and do not drill or modify the helmet.
- Inspect the posts, threads, receptacles and FHR tethers before every event and after any impact or unusual loading.
- Replace damaged, bent, corroded or worn hardware rather than reusing it.
