Harris Race Radios™ carries the largest range of circuit racing helmets of any supplier in New Zealand and Australia — Stilo, Roux by Pininfarina, XRON, Bell, Schuberth, and more.
A helmet is the most critical component in any motorsport communications system. Not all helmets are compatible with all radio and intercom systems. We carry this breadth of brands to ensure every driver gets the right helmet matched to their communications setup — something no other supplier in NZ or AU can offer.

Helmet Standards for Circuit Racing
Snell SA2025 is the current Snell motorsport helmet standard accepted by MotorSport NZ and Motorsport Australia. FIA and earlier Snell labels are also relevant, but the exact helmet must meet the current rules for your category and event. Check its physical certification label, condition, fit, FHR anchors and restraint setup; a listed standard does not make every helmet suitable for every race.
- Snell SA2025 — current Snell motorsport standard for buyers comparing new helmets.
- Snell SA2020 — older labelled stock; check its current acceptance and any end date for your category and event before buying.
- FIA 8859-2015 / FIA 8859-2024 — check the exact homologation label and relevant category rules.
- FIA 8860-2018 / FIA 8860-2024 — higher-level FIA helmet options; particular international and open-wheel events may specify a version or ABP configuration. Check the event rules rather than assuming one version is universally required.
Not sure which standard your event requires? See our MSNZ Helmet Standards Guide or contact Aaron Harris for practical helmet and communications advice. Aaron is a MotorSport NZ Licence Examiner for licences only; that role does not certify helmets or determine event eligibility.
Compare Circuit Racing Helmet Brands
- Stilo — Italian-engineered helmets with circuit and rally communications options; check the label on the particular model.
- Roux by Pininfarina — Italian-made SA2025 options with full-comms and no-comms configurations.
- XRON — SA2025 base, one-way speaker and integrated-comms options for different driver needs.
- Bell — circuit racing and karting models; choose by the exact model, label and discipline.
- Schuberth — premium German-engineered options; compare fit and homologation by model.
Match the Helmet to Your Communications
Start with the driver’s discipline, helmet fit and required label, then choose a bare helmet, one-way Race Control audio or a compatible two-way radio/intercom installation. Speaker recesses, microphone position, connector and cable routing differ by helmet and system; confirm the exact equipment before ordering an adapter. See our Helmet Buyer's Guide or contact Aaron Harris for practical model and fit advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Snell SA2025 accepted for circuit racing in NZ and Australia?
Yes. SA2025 is the current Snell motorsport helmet standard accepted by MotorSport NZ and Motorsport Australia. Check the exact helmet's physical label, condition, fit, FHR setup and current category and event rules before racing.
Should I choose a Snell or FIA helmet?
Start with your current class and event rules, then compare the physical label, fit, FHR setup and communications configuration on the exact helmet. FIA 8859 and 8860 versions serve different requirements; do not assume every FIA-labelled helmet suits every event.
Can I use a circuit racing helmet with my radio or Race Control receiver?
It depends on the helmet's speaker and microphone configuration, connector and your exact radio, intercom or one-way receiver. Harris Race Radios™ can help match these components before you order.
Does Aaron Harris certify helmets for racing?
No. Aaron is a MotorSport NZ Licence Examiner for licences only. His racing and race-engineering experience informs practical helmet selection, but the exact helmet and event rules determine eligibility.
