AiM Channel Expansion CAN Sensor Hub

The AiM Channel Expansion adds compatible sensor inputs to an AiM CAN-based motorsport data system. It accepts up to four analogue channels, or a combination of analogue channels and up to two digital inputs, through standard AiM 4-pin input connectors.

It is designed for installations that need additional pressure, temperature, potentiometer, or compatible digital measurements without using the base channels on the connected AiM data logger. Channel Expansion inputs

  • Up to four analogue channels for compatible 0–5 V pressure, temperature, and potentiometer sensors.

  • Four standard AiM 4-pin input connectors for compatible sensors and wiring.
  • CAN connection to the compatible AiM data logger or CAN data system.

The actual sensor range, calibration, channel names, digital modes, power supply, and logging behaviour depend on the connected AiM logger, configuration, firmware, sensors, and wiring. This module is an input expansion device, not a standalone data logger.

Example motorsport applications

A Channel Expansion can be used for additional measurements such as suspension-travel potentiometers, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, or compatible wheel-speed inputs. For example, four travel sensors may be connected through one module where the vehicle system and configuration support that arrangement.

Additional compatible CAN equipment may be used through an AiM CAN data hub or other approved system architecture. Do not assume that every sensor, CAN hub, logger generation, connector, or wiring layout is interchangeable. Confirm the complete system before building the harness.

Installation and configuration checks

  • Confirm the connected AiM logger model and current firmware before selecting the module.
  • Confirm each sensor type, output range, calibration, connector, power requirement, and cable path.
  • Use compatible AiM 4-pin input connectors and protect wiring from heat, abrasion, moisture, and moving parts.
  • Configure analogue and digital channels in the supported AiM software, then validate each value against a known reference.
  • Check CAN termination, grounding, power supply, and data availability before competition use.
