Why Use Visor Tear Offs?

Tear offs are used in any motorsport discipline where the driver's visor becomes contaminated and visibility is compromised — mud, water, stone chips, dust, insects, or rubber debris. Rather than reaching up to wipe the visor (losing concentration and hand position), the driver grabs the pull tab and peels off a single layer in under a second, revealing a clean surface underneath.

Tear offs are most commonly used by speedway, dirt track, off-road, and open-wheel circuit drivers who are directly exposed to debris from the track surface and other vehicles. They are also used in any other discipline where visor contamination is a factor.

Tear Offs vs Roll Offs

Both systems solve the same problem — maintaining clear visor vision during a race — but work differently:

• Tear offs — individual film layers stacked on the visor. Each peel removes one layer. Simple, lightweight, and low-profile. Best for events where a driver has a pit crew or co-driver to reload, or where a fixed number of clears is sufficient for the race distance.
• Roll offs — a continuous film on a spool mechanism mounted to the helmet. The driver winds on a fresh section of film using a lever or cable. Best for endurance events or disciplines where continuous visor clearing is needed without stopping.

Bell tear offs are visor-specific. Each visor profile requires a different shaped tear off — using the wrong model will result in poor fit and reduced coverage. Use the table below to identify the correct tear off for your helmet:

Note: SE077 tear offs have less height to suit the HP77's smaller visor aperture. They will physically fit SE07 helmets but cover a smaller area — use SE07 tear offs for RS7, KC7, and HP7 helmets for full coverage.

Tear offs are manufactured to match the exact profile of a specific visor — a Bell SE07 tear off is shaped differently to a Bell SE06, and neither will fit a Stilo or Schuberth visor. Always select the tear off that matches your exact helmet model.

Which tear off do I need for my Bell RS7?

The RS7 uses the SE07 tear off. The SE07 is available in packs of 10, 12, or 30 — the 30-pack (3 stacks of 10) is the best choice for endurance and speedway events where multiple visor changes are needed.

Can I use SE077 tear offs on my SE07 helmet?
