AiM Wheel Speed Sensor for Motorsport Data Systems

The AiM wheel speed sensor provides wheel-speed input for compatible AiM motorsport data systems. The product is available with Magnetic, Hall Effect, or higher-quality Honeywell ABS Hall Effect sensing, together with 712 or 719 connector options.

Choose the connector and sensor type to match the AiM logger or dash, the trigger arrangement, and the installation space on the vehicle. This is a measurement component, not a standalone display or data logger.

Sensor and connector options

  • Magnetic: senses the included trigger magnet as it passes the sensor.
  • Hall Effect: non-contact sensing of a metallic trigger.
  • ABS Honeywell Hall Effect: the higher-quality Honeywell ABS Hall Effect option listed for this product.
  • 712 connector: listed for AiM EVO4 data loggers.
  • 719 connector: listed for AiM MXL Strada and Pista, MXG, MXS, MXP including Strada, and MXL2 systems.

Use a 719–719 extension lead where additional cable length is required for a compatible installation.

Mounting and trigger setup

  • The magnetic version requires a mounting bracket, which is not supplied, and uses the included trigger magnet.
  • Possible magnetic-sensor mounting locations include the wheel, wheel hub, prop shaft, or brake disc, subject to a safe vehicle-specific installation.
  • The Hall Effect versions require a suitable metallic trigger to pass in front of the sensor.
  • For Hall Effect installation, maintain the listed 0.5–2.0 mm sensor-to-trigger distance.
  • A bracket will usually need to be fabricated or sourced to hold the sensor securely and maintain alignment.
  • Route and protect the cable from abrasion, heat, impact, steering movement, suspension travel, and rotating components.

The listed approximate cable lengths are 1.7 m for the Magnetic version and 2.0 m for the Hall Effect version. Confirm the exact variant, connector, trigger arrangement, bracket, and cable path before ordering.

AiM system compatibility

Connector choice is only one part of fitment. Confirm the AiM logger or dash model, available wheel-speed channel, signal type, trigger geometry, installation gap, and Race Studio channel configuration before use. Validate the reading at low speed and compare it with a known reference during commissioning.

Use the AiM Race Studio 3 Knowledge Hub for configuration and data-analysis workflows. Visit AiM Downloads & Documentation for official live AiM software, firmware, and documentation sources.

Wheel-speed sensor FAQ

Which sensor types are available?

The listed options are Magnetic, Hall Effect, and a higher-quality Honeywell ABS Hall Effect sensor.

Which AiM connector should I choose?

The 712 connection is listed for EVO4 data loggers. The 719 connection is listed for MXL, MXG, MXS, MXP, and MXL2 systems, including the listed Strada variants. Confirm your exact AiM model before ordering.

What does the Magnetic version need?

The Magnetic version uses the included trigger magnet and requires a mounting bracket, which is not supplied.

What does the Hall Effect version need?

The Hall Effect versions require a metallic trigger to pass in front of the sensor and a secure bracket or mounting arrangement.

What sensor-to-trigger gap is required?

The listed Hall Effect installation distance is 0.5–2.0 mm. Set and verify the gap during installation.

Are brackets and extension leads included?

The magnetic-sensor bracket is not supplied. A 719–719 extension lead can be used where required, but confirm the exact kit contents and cable length for the selected variant.
