The Rugged Radios WM1 Wireless Bluetooth Music Interface Module lets you stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled phone or device straight into your intercom. It plugs into the rear AUX port on your intercom and pairs with your Bluetooth device in seconds, giving you Bluetooth-certified audio without a wired connection to your phone.

Power

The WM1 draws constant power while connected, so use its built-in toggle switch to turn it on and off rather than leaving it powered permanently.

Installation

  1. Connect the WM1 to the AUX port on the back of your intercom.
  2. Connect the WM1 power cable inline with your intercom's power cable.
  3. With the intercom powered on, search for the Bluetooth device named "AW3860" on your phone or music device.
  4. When prompted for a passcode, enter 0000 (four zeros).
  5. Return to your music device and start streaming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the WM1 work with my existing intercom?

The WM1 fits any intercom with a rear AUX port, including RRP357, RRP600, RRP660 and RRP686 models. Confirm your intercom has a rear AUX port before ordering; contact us if you're not sure which intercom you have.

Does music cut out when someone talks on the radio?

Yes. The WM1 automatically mutes streaming music when a radio transmission comes through the intercom, so you never miss a call from your crew or co-driver.

How far away can my phone be from the WM1?

Up to 40 feet (about 12 metres) in typical conditions, though metal panels, helmets and other electronics in a race car can reduce effective Bluetooth range.

Does the WM1 need its own power switch?

Yes. It draws constant power once wired in, so use the built-in toggle switch to turn it off when you're not using it, to avoid unnecessary battery drain.
