AiM Solo 2 External Power Lead

This genuine AiM Solo 2 external power lead connects the device directly to a vehicle's 12V power supply, removing reliance on the internal battery during long sessions or endurance racing. It's sold and supported by Harris Race Radios as AiM's motorsport data specialists in New Zealand and Australia.

The lead uses a 3-pin 712 Binder male connector at the device end and a 12V car lighter plug at the vehicle end.

Before ordering

  • Confirm the connector on your AiM Solo or Solo 2 device matches the 712 Binder connector on this lead.
  • Confirm the vehicle has a compatible 12V lighter socket, or plan a hardwired alternative through your race engineer.
  • Route the cable away from heat, abrasion, and moving components.
  • Test power delivery before relying on it for a full session or event.

What does this lead connect to?

It connects the AiM Solo 2 to a vehicle's 12V power supply using a 3-pin 712 Binder male connector and a 12V car lighter plug, so the unit runs on car power instead of its internal battery.

Do I still need the internal battery?

No. While this lead is connected the internal battery isn't drawn on, which is why it's the standard choice for endurance racing or long track days where battery life would otherwise run out.

Will this fit my AiM Solo or Solo DL?

Any AiM Solo model using the 3-pin 712 Binder connector will accept this lead. Check the connector on your specific unit if you're unsure, or ask us before ordering.

What if my car doesn't have a working lighter socket?

You can wire the 12V end directly to a switched power source instead of a lighter socket. Our team can advise on a clean hardwired option for your car.
