What is Maglock? The Complete Guide to Racing Helmet Air Systems

Maglock is a magnetic quick-connect coupling used between a motorsport helmet air inlet and a forced-air hose. The correct helmet-side fitting, hose-side fitting and air source depend on the exact helmet model. The quick-release design can make driver changes easier, but it does not substitute for the helmet's homologation or the event's safety rules.

How It Works

A helmet-side connector meets a hose-side connector magnetically. Check the manufacturer's fitting instructions and retention specification for the exact kit; do not assume any quoted holding force, airtight seal or emergency-release performance applies to every installation. Route the hose so the driver can move and exit safely.

What Makes Up a Forced-Air System?

• An appropriate air source, such as a pumper or compatible Chillout driver cooling system
• A compatible air hose and Maglock connector pair
• A helmet with a suitable air inlet or manufacturer-compatible top-air kit

Will Maglock Fit My Helmet?

Do not rely on brand alone: helmets from Bell, Stilo, Roux, Arai, Stand21, Zamp, Schuberth and others differ by model, production version and inlet. Some pumper models have a built-in port; others need a compatible top-air kit or specific adapter.
