Upgrading from ST5 to ST6

If your ST5 no longer fits properly, is damaged, has reached a manufacturer or event age limit, or you want a newer helmet, compare the ST6 models by shell, physical certification label, fit, communications and FHR requirements. ST6 models vary; do not assume every variant has the same homologation, weight, visor or electronics.

  • Compare the weight of the exact ST5 and ST6 model in your shell size rather than assuming a fixed 200–300 g saving.
  • ST6 GT configurations include visor and ventilation options; check the exact model's features.
  • Some ST6 variants are listed with FIA 8859-2024, FIA 8860-2018 or Snell SA2025; SA2025 is accepted by MotorSport NZ and Motorsport Australia, but check the physical label and your class requirements.
  • Confirm the exact helmet connector, fitted electronics and intercom compatibility before reusing an ST5 communications setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Stilo ST5 still eligible for competition?
Do not infer a universal 2023 expiry from the ST5 name or an FIA 8859-2015 label. Inspect your helmet's exact homologation sticker, condition and age, and check the current requirements for the governing body, category and event. The FIA's published regulations and lists and your event organiser can help establish the rules. Aaron's MotorSport NZ Licence Examiner role is for licences, not helmet certification.

Can I still use my ST5 for club racing in NZ or AU?
Possibly, depending on the exact physical label, condition, helmet age and current class and event rules. Check with the organiser or relevant governing body before racing.

Do you stock ST5 parts for all variants?
Parts are available for specified ST5 F, ST5 FN and ST5 F Offshore models. Contact us with the model, size and part details so we can check fit and availability.

Can I retrofit ST6 electronics into my ST5?
Do not assume ST5 and ST6 electronics are interchangeable. Ask us to check the precise electronics part, helmet shell, connector and installation before ordering.
