Are Harris Race Radios Stilo Helmets Genuine?
Are Harris Race Radios® Stilo Helmets Genuine?
Written by Aaron Harris — Barcelona 24 Hour class winner, Bathurst competitor, and MSNZ licence examiner for helmets and racewear.
Yes — unequivocally. Every Stilo helmet supplied by Harris Race Radios® is a genuine Stilo product, FIA certified, and sourced through authorised international distribution channels. This page explains exactly what that means, how you can verify it, and why it matters for your safety and your race series compliance.
What "Genuine" Means
A genuine Stilo helmet is one that:
- Is manufactured by Stilo S.r.l. in Italy
- Carries a valid FIA homologation number on the certification sticker inside the helmet
- Can be verified against the official FIA homologation list
- Has not been modified, repackaged, or misrepresented
- Comes with the original Stilo documentation and warranty card
Every helmet we supply meets all of these criteria.
How to Verify Your Stilo Helmet Is Genuine
1. Check the FIA Homologation Sticker
Every genuine FIA-certified Stilo helmet has a homologation sticker on the inside of the shell. This sticker shows the FIA standard, homologation number, manufacture date, and expiry date (FIA helmets have a 5-year certification life from manufacture date).
2. Verify Against the Official FIA Homologation List
The FIA publishes a complete list of all homologated helmets at fia.com. You can search for your specific helmet model and verify that the homologation number on your sticker matches the official FIA record.
3. Check the Stilo Serial Number
Every Stilo helmet has a unique serial number on the homologation sticker. If you have any doubt about authenticity, contact Stilo Italy directly at stilo.it with the serial number and they can confirm the helmet's authenticity and manufacture date.
Our Position — Honest and Transparent
Harris Race Radios® is a specialist retailer and technical integrator. We source genuine Stilo helmets through authorised international distribution channels and supply them to motorsport competitors across New Zealand and Australia.
- ✅ Every helmet we sell is a genuine Stilo product
- ✅ Every helmet carries valid FIA certification
- ✅ Every helmet can be verified against the official FIA homologation list
- ✅ We have never sold a counterfeit, modified, or misrepresented helmet
- ✅ We have over 20 years of reputation in the NZ and AU motorsport community to protect
Why This Matters for Your Safety
Counterfeit motorsport helmets exist. They are typically sold at significantly below-market prices and may look identical to genuine helmets externally. The differences are internal — in the shell construction, liner materials, and energy absorption characteristics that determine whether a helmet protects you in an impact.
If you are ever offered a Stilo helmet at a price that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Check the FIA homologation sticker and verify it against the official FIA list before purchasing from any supplier.
Why This Matters for Your Race Series Compliance
Motorsport Australia (CAMS), MSNZ, and all FIA-affiliated series require helmets to carry valid FIA homologation. A counterfeit or expired helmet will fail scrutineering and may result in exclusion from the event. All helmets supplied by Harris Race Radios® carry current, valid FIA homologation at the time of supply.
