Authenticity and race eligibility are different checks
Authenticity concerns whether a helmet is a genuine Stilo product. Certification identifies the standard to which the particular model and configuration were tested. Event eligibility depends on that helmet’s physical labels, condition, configuration and the current rules for your discipline, category and event. A genuine helmet is not automatically suitable for every race.

How to check a Stilo helmet
- Identify the exact helmet. Keep your invoice and record the model, size and any identifying numbers shown on the helmet or supplied documentation. Take clear photographs without removing or damaging labels or liners.
- Read the certification labels. For an FIA-homologated model, compare the brand, model, homologation reference and listed sizes with the relevant FIA technical list. The FIA’s helmet guidelines explain how technical lists and labels support these checks. A matching entry is a useful check, not proof on its own that an individual helmet is authentic.
- Ask for help if anything is unclear. For a helmet supplied by Harris Race Radios™, send us your purchase details and photographs. If manufacturer confirmation is needed, use the contact details on Stilo’s website and provide the identifiers available on your helmet. Do not assume there is a public serial-number lookup or that a serial number alone proves authenticity.
- Confirm suitability before racing. Check the current rules for your NZ or Australian discipline and event, the manufacturer’s instructions, helmet condition and any communications or accessory installation requirements.
Helmet age, homologation dates and condition
There is no single ten-year FIA service-life rule that should be applied to every Stilo helmet. A homologation end date in an FIA technical list must not automatically be treated as the expiry date of an individual helmet. Check the notes in the relevant list, the standard shown on the helmet, manufacturer guidance and your current competition rules.
Age is only part of the decision. Damage, impact history, deterioration, fit and alterations also matter. If the helmet’s history or condition is uncertain, seek advice before using it in competition.
