Due to the compact dimensions and precise tuning of our STEALTH antennas, we offer two different options depending on your mounting location:

REQUIRES GROUND PLANE version for antenna mounting on metal surfaces such as steel or aluminum roofs must be used.

NON-GROUND PLANE, GROUND-PLANE INDEPENDENT version for antenna mounting on non-metallic surfaces such as plastic roofs, or tab mounting on a roll cage, fender, or mirror brackets.

A ground plane is a flat or nearly flat horizontal conducting surface that serves as part of an antenna, to reflect the radio waves from the other antenna elements. The plane does not necessarily have to be connected to ground to be used as a reflecting surface for radio waves.

Note: This Non Ground Plane Stealth antenna was designed for applications where a metal ground plane (such as a steel or aluminum) is not available.  This design makes it perfect for mounting on a roll bar, fabricated tab, and other similar mounts.  It will also work well on non-metallic roofs such as plastic or fiberglass.  No need for ground plane applications such as a steel or aluminum roof.
