What is the difference between the Stilo ST6 FN and ST6 GT?
The ST6 FN is the standard circuit variant, available in composite and carbon, FIA 8859-2024 approved. The ST6 GT Carbon is FIA 8860-2018 approved — the highest FIA standard — required for Supercars Championship, Australian GT Pro, and WEC. If your series requires FIA 8860, you need the GT Carbon or FN Carbon 8860.
What is the difference between ST6 F and ST6 FN?
The ST6 F has factory-built-in microphone, speakers, and wiring — ready to connect directly to a radio or intercom system. The ST6 FN uses aftermarket comms kits, giving more flexibility for custom radio setups. Harris Race Radios can advise which is right for your specific communications system and supply the correct wiring kit.
Do I need ABP certification for open-wheel racing in NZ or Australia?
Yes. ABP (Advanced Ballistic Protection) is required for open-wheel and formula car drivers. FIA 8860-2018 ABP is required for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing NZ, Formula 3 and above, and national-level formula racing in Australia. The Stilo ST6 FN Carbon ABP is the correct helmet for these categories.
Carbon or composite ST6 — which should I choose?
Carbon shells are 200–300g lighter — recommended for endurance racing or events over 2 hours where neck fatigue compounds over long stints.
